Created on Saturday, February 21 2009

tenness_170xA subcommittee of the Greene County Commission's Animal Control Committee voted Tuesday afternoon to give greater authority to County Animal Control Director Eddie Key to enforce the county's leash law. The vote by the subcommittee, which includes commissioners on the committee plus pet-rescue activists and others in favor of a spay-and-neuter ordinance, followed another contentious meeting pitting hunters opposed to a new spay-and-neuter law against those in favor of such a law. The Animal Control Committee and subcommittee, meeting jointly, also voted to direct the Greene County Commission's Insurance Committee to investigate the possibility of having volunteers assist Key in his duties as the county's main animal control officer.
